Year Round Beach Body
Sunny beaches lined with world renowned shops and restaurants are more than plentiful in the Fort Lauderdale area, but how do you keep your year round beach body while living in paradise? Staying fit, but most importantly healthy & active, is an integral part of the Fort Lauderdale lifestyle. Especially when the average temperate is 75 degrees, year round! Having a bachelor’s degree in health science and nutrition, staying healthy has always been a top priority in my life and I would like to share with you some of the Fort Lauderdale Hot Spots I have found in this beautiful city of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Who says workouts have to be boring?
B-Cycle Broward County
One of my favorite cardio workouts includes riding a bike down the famous Fort Lauderdale Beach strip. B-Cycle Broward County has over 15 different locations in the Fort Lauderdale area, including one on Fort Lauderdale Beach. You can buy an annual membership for $45; the first 30 minutes are free every ride, and it only charges $1 for the second half hour. You can also check out a bike as a guest, just to try out for the day! (different rates may apply) You can find the entire breakdown of fees on their website.
B-Cycle Broward County: What I Love
What I LOVE about this setup is I do not have to install a bike rack on my SUV, it really is such a hassle free setup. Each bike is a newer beach cruiser fully loaded with a front basket, lights on the front and back, and a bike lock. With a membership, you can track your miles from your online portal and see your progress. With such a convenient location to Fort Lauderdale Beach, my favorite ride from the B-Cycle stations is down A1A heading North- you pass all of the local restaurants, beach bars and other Fort Lauderdale hotspots. About a mile down, on the left-hand side (a little north of the Sunrise Blvd. intersection) you will find the entrance to Birch State Park.
Birch State Park
Birch State Park is a true gem that I am lucky to have found! You can make a lap (I prefer 2-3 laps) around the park, which wraps around the beautifully foliaged park and intercostal waterway. There are public restrooms and a water fountain located near the playground area. It is also important to note that north of the Birch State Park entrance on A1A is the dog beach for Fort Lauderdale. A beach day with the pups is always a good day!
What Birch State Park Offers
Birch State Park also offers kayak, canoe, and bike rentals. You can enjoy nature trails, fishing, and campsites as well. The Water Taxi boards all day from the park- purchase a ticket and receive discounts for over 60 restaurants and shops. Feeling up for a bite to eat, or maybe even a drink after all that exercising? The park offers a dining/craft beer option called Park & Ocean- ‘Tasty Eats, Craft Beers, & Adventure.’
The park has special events, as well as a visitor center. I am proud to be part of the RNGR Young Professionals Group at Birch State Park; please contact me if you are interested in more events or would like to volunteer with us.
Stop for Lunch: Eat The Tea or Mayapapaya Juicery & Kitchen
Let’s say you want to skip that craft beer and keeping on peddling for some extra cardio but need a good place to stop for lunch. I would highly recommend these Fort Lauderdale hotspots: ‘Eat The Tea’ or ‘Mayapapaya Juicery + Kitchen’. Both are located right off of Sunrise Blvd, less than one mile from A1A. Use the included bike lock from the B-cycle rental and sit down to enjoy a little slice of paradise. Both of these Fort Lauderdale Hotspots offer freshly made juices, teas, and entrees. Vegan and gluten free options are available and these are something of healthiest, freshest options in the area! You will not be disappointed. Eat the Tea has a back patio where you can enjoy your fresh smoothie or custom made tea elixir while overlooking the intercostal.
Forget You’re Working Out
Having days like this will make you forget that you are actually working out! The spectacular views from Fort Lauderdale Beach and Birch State Park are sure to make any day extra special. After experiences like this, you may decide you would like to live in a location where you can walk or ride your bike to these local hot spots every day- look no further than your local Mermaid Realtor.
My Little Secret: Core Contour
It is important for me to stay in great shape for diving and spearfishing, and I would like to share a little secret with you. A little less than a month ago I found a workout studio that has completely changed my outlook on fitness and transformed my body in such a short amount of time. One of the best Fort Lauderdale hotspots for working out is the studio called Core Contour, conveniently located off Federal Highway in the same plaza as Whole Foods. Core Contour is a Lagree Fitness method that truly works. I have never seen any results faster than I have with these classes. It is a fitness method that integrates slow and controlled movement to effectively stimulate the slow-twitch, fat-burning muscle fibers which are responsible for a longer, strong, and leaner physique.
Only 12 Spaces Per Class
There are only 12 spaces per class for optimizing your performance; your Core Coach will inspire you to push your mental and physical threshold to really see fast results. This 50-minute total body-sculpting workout was designed to burn fat, not time! I also suffer from a lower back injury, and this has been a fantastic option for me, as it has virtually no impact on your joints. The only thing I wish was different about Core Contour is that I would have found it sooner. When considering a new workout class that you have never tried, I know it always runs through our mind ‘well maybe I’m not ready for that’ or ‘maybe I am not in good enough shape to try something new’.
Core Contour: Isolates the Muscles
A wonderful aspect of Core Contour is that it really isolates the muscles for the faster results, and has modifications for any fitness level. The best advice I could give someone who has not tried it is- jump right in! The class is designed for males & females, and adults of all ages.

After my workout, I like to walk over to Whole Foods.
This location offers a HugoFresh Juice bar- my favorite fresh pressed juice shot (made fresh daily) is the Saca Lo. Once a week I stop right down the street to local Trader Joe’s location to pick up my healthy snacks which can include: nuts, fresh & dried fruit, pre-made salads with super foods such as quinoa and sweet potatoes, and much more!
Family, Friends & Health
My top three priorities in my life are my family & friends, my health, and my commitment to my clients in finding their new home. I love to tie all of these aspects together and share my knowledge of the Fort Lauderdale area, Fort Lauderdale Hotspots and everything that it has to offer. My clients have become my friends, and my healthy habits have become my lifestyle.
